We are introducing all our main tours which are currently available as we believe shortly we can slowly open up COVID safe tours. The first tour we will describe is the Trans Flores Safari. This is an outline and will change as we find COVID SAFE PLACES TO STAY OUTSIDE OUR TWO LODGES.

Our tour this week is the Trans Flores Safari, which is a great way to visit many of the facets of this beautiful island. The island of Flores is one of the Lesser Sunda islands on the ring of Fire. It had a small hominid species of man many centuries ago and even today many of the people are small in stature. The recent history has been dominated by the Portugeese who colonised the island early in the 16th century until independence in 1945. The Portugeese also introduced Christianity, education, and hospitals, and today many inhabitants are Catholics. Islam, introduced by traders from Sulawesi, is common in the coastal areas. Both communities live in harmony. There are at least six different languages spoken according to ethnic history of communities. Bahasa Indonesia unites all Indonesians in one national language.

Among the principal attractions of Flores for the visitor are the Komodo islands with the fabled Komodo dragons, the marine life in one of the most biodiverse coral systems of the globe, the mountain coloured, crater lakes of Kelimutu, the birds which have many endemic species, the volcanoes most of which are alive and the agricultural systems. Added to all these are the people who are friendly and have a rich culture.

This tour commences in Bali and moves to Labuan Bajo (Flores) on day 2 where you will stay at the Mbeliling Mountain Ecolodge for 3 – 4 days. From here you will visit the Komodo islands with an option of an overnight on a boat. You will view the dragons and, also have an opportunity for snorkelling and viewing marine life. Then, you have two days around Mbeliling birding and visiting Lake Sano and the waterfalls in the area. Birders have an option of a full days birding with the possibility of viewing some of the seven endemics easily seen in the gardens or near surrounds (view recent reports of Valery Scholaert https://www.facebook.com/Holistic-Birding-Encyclop%C3%A9die-holistique-118829629501882?_rdc=1&_rdr ).

There is also a local visit to a community to view traditional dancing, agricultural systems and local ikat weaving.

You then start your trip across the island from Mbelliling to Bajawa past beautiful valleys and rice paddies, volcanoes and small towns and villages. Bajawa is in the mountains near Imere volcano and you will visit traditional village of Bena. In Bajawa, you will stay at the Hotel Manulalu, and there will be offered an optional 2 day’s trekking to Wae Rebo and overnight in a homestay.

The next stage is via Ende to the Kelimutu Crater Lakes Ecolodge for four days. This lodge has its own farm and you can be shown many species of fruit and vegetable, many of which you will eat in the restaurant. Your visit to this beautiful lodge will include a dawn tour to the crater lakes, a mystical experience as these lakes are deep in the culture of the Lio peoples of the area. Also, you will visit markets, see waterfalls, and visit villages where fabulous ikat weaving cloths are made. This ikat is considered amongst some of the best in the world. For keen birders, there is plenty to see.

TOUR TRANS FLORES SAFARI

Tur kami minggu ini adalah Safari Trans Flores, yang merupakan cara terbaik untuk menikmati berbagai hal dari pulau Flores yang indah ini. Flores merupakan salah satu pulau Sunda Kecil yang berada di jalur pegunungan berapi. Berabad-abad yang lalu di Flores terdapat spesies manusia hominid keci dan bahkan sampai sekarang banyak ditemukan jejaknya. Awal abad ke-16 Portugis menguasai pulau ini hingga akhirnya merdeka pada tahun 1945. Orang Portugis juga memperkenalkan agama Kristen, pendidikan, dan rumah sakit, sehingga saat ini Agama Katolik adalah mayoritas di pulau ini. Agama Islam diperkenalkan oleh para pedagang dari Sulawesi dan merupakan hal yang umum di daerah pesisir. Kedua komunitas itu hidup rukun. Setidaknya ada enam bahasa berbeda yang digunakan menurut sejarah etnis masyarakat disini. Bahasa Indonesia kemudian mempersatukan semua orang dalam satu bahasa nasional.

Pulau Komodo merupakan atraksi utama yang sudah terkenal, Flores juga memiliki kehidupan laut dan terumbu karang yang paling beraneka ragam di dunia, pegunungan yang indah, danau Kelimutu, banyak spesies burung endemic, gunung berapi yang sebagian besar masih aktif dan sistem pertanian yang unik, ditambah dengan keramahan dari masyarakatnya dengan budaya yang beraneka ragam.

Tour ini dimulai di Bali, kemudian berpindah ke Labuan Bajo (Flores) pada hari ke 2, dimana anda akan menginap di Mbeliling Mountain Ecolodge selama 3 – 4 hari. Dari sini Anda akan mengunjungi kepulauan Komodo dengan pilihan bermalam di atas perahu. Anda akan melihat komodo dan, juga memiliki kesempatan untuk snorkeling dan melihat kehidupan laut. Kemudian, Anda memiliki waktu dua hari di sekitar Mbeliling birding dan mengunjungi Danau Sano dan air terjun di daerah tersebut. Birders memiliki pilihan untuk mengamati burung sehari penuh dengan kemungkinan melihat beberapa dari tujuh endemik yang dapat dengan mudah dilihat di lodge dan daerah sekitarnya.

Terdapat juga aktivitas mengunjungi desa terdekat untuk melihat tarian tradisional, sistem pertanian dan tenun ikat lokal.

Anda kemudian memulai perjalanan dari Mbelliling ke Ruteng dan Bajawa, melewati lembah dan sawah yang indah, gunung berapi dan kota-kota kecil serta desa-desa. Bajawa berada di pegunungan dekat gunung berapi Imere dan mengunjungi desa adat Bena. Di Bajawa, Anda akan menginap di Hotel Manulalu. Ada juga opsional trip 2 hari melihat desa adat Wae Rebo dan bermalam di homestay. Tahap selanjutnya adalah berangkat menuju Ende dan tiba di Kelimutu Ecolodge. Anda akan menghabisakan empat hari disini. Lodge ini memiliki kebun pertanian sendiri, dan dapat melihat banyak tanaman buah dan sayuran disana. Semua hasil kebun dan pertanian kami bisa dinikmati di restaurant kami. Selain itu, Anda akan mengunjungi pasar, melihat air terjun, dan mengunjungi desa-desa adat tempat pembuatan kain tenun ikat yang luar biasa. Kain ikat ini dianggap salah satu yang terbaik di dunia. Untuk penikmat burung akan ada banyak hal yang bisa dilihat.
