Kelimutu Crater Lakes Ecolodge is simply idyllic! Set in beautiful gardens on the edge of a rainforest, in a valley of rice paddies, beside a babbling river with breath taking views of Mount Kelimutu.

KELIMUTU
Three Color Lake
About 13 km from our lodges it’s takes around 30–40 minutes. Located on Mount Kelimutu, these volcanic lakes change colors over time due to mineral reactions. The three lakes—Tiwu Ata Bupu (Lake of Old People), Tiwu Ko’o Fai Nuwa Muri (Lake of Young Men and Maidens), and Tiwu Ata Polo (Enchanted Lake)—can appear blue, green, red, black, or brown.
Our tour leaves at 4:30am daily and gets to the lakes before dawn. Most people feel the spiritual call of the lakes as the sun brings warmth to the day.

Nggela Village
Nggela Village is a hidden gem in Flores, just 20 km from Moni—a scenic 45-minute to 1-hour drive through lush landscapes. It is known for its well-preserved Lio-style houses, rich cultural traditions, and beautiful ikat weaving. The village sits near Mount Kelimutu and has a peaceful, natural atmosphere. Locals practice traditional ceremonies, including harvest festivals and sacred dances. Visitors can explore the village’s unique architecture, learn about its history, and experience the warm hospitality of the Lio people.

Sipijena Village
Sipijena, a village in Detusoko, Ende, is rich in culture and tradition. It is known for having Agatha Gale as the first female Mosalaki (traditional leader) in Ende, breaking gender norms in leadership. The village also preserves its heritage through Rumah Adat Sipijena, traditional houses that serve as cultural centers. Nearby, Murulongga Waterfall offers a beautiful natural escape, attracting visitors with its scenic beauty.

Waterfalls
Flores is home to several impressive waterfalls, with varying degrees of walkability. The island of Flores is very mountainous and contains some spectacular water falls. The Kelimutu area is no exception and near the lodge there are several where you can relax and even swim under some of them.
