Tanjung Harapan Orangutan Station
Located just minutes from Rimba Orangutan Eco Lodge, Tanjung Harapan Feeding Station is one of the orangutan rehabilitation sites in Tanjung Putting National Park and offers an authentic introduction to the rainforest of the park. Reached by a short traditional klotok river cruise along the Sekonyer River, guests can enjoy wildlife sightings including proboscis monkeys, hornbills, kingfishers, and crocodiles before continuing with a light rainforest walk and witnessing the famous afternoon orangutan feeding session.
The experience can also include visits to the nearby traditional riverside village of Tanjung Harapan and optional night walks around the forest edge, offering opportunities to discover Borneo’s fascinating nocturnal wildlife and rich rainforest atmosphere.

The trip is possible throughout the year, although November–March is generally wetter and may experience more frequent rainfall. July–August is the peak season and tends to be the busiest period, with more visitors at Camp Leakey. For a quieter experience, consider visiting outside the peak season.
Roger — King of Tanjung Harapan
Roger is the dominant adult male orangutan, often referred to as the "king" who holds territory at Camp Tanjung Harapan in Tanjung Puting National Park, Central Kalimantan (Borneo).
Key Characteristics & Background
- Orphan Rehabilitation Success: Roger is one of the first-generation orphan orangutans who was successfully rehabilitated and released at Camp Tanjung Harapan.
- Age: He is estimated to be in his 40s, placing him in his prime prime-to-senior male years.
- Dominant Flanged Male: Easily recognized by his prominent cheek pads (flanges), long throat sac for making long calls, and massive frame weighing around 90 kilograms (~200 lbs).
