Occasionally an Orangutan may take you by the hand – relax and enjoy it. Camp Leakey feeding is funded by donations to The Orangutan Foundation International USA (Professor Dr Birute Galdikas). Then you walk back to the boat for a great trip home in the evening through many roosting Proboscis Monkeys including visit the Tanjung Harapan Village. Dinner and overnight at Rimba Lodge.

WHAT THEY SAY

Excellent Location for Wildlife Viewing
"Rimba Orangutan Eco Lodge allowed us to stay in relative comfort with air conditioning and hot water while at the same time being close to nature. Proboscis Monkeys on the roof served as an alarm clock in the morning. The staff at the lodge and on the boat went out of their way to make our four night stay comfortable and provide vegetarian meals. This is an ecolodge in the jungle so we didn't expect it to be like a chain hotel in a big city. Until we arrived, we didn't understand how wet this area is. Creaky wooden walkways connect the rooms with the dining room and dock. We spent most of our waking hours on the lodge's boat with the boat staff and Hakim, our excellent wildlife and bird guide. Taking walks is mostly possible in the vicinity of the orangutan feeding stations, but we were able to see many orangutans, proboscis monkeys, and birds on the river and on walks with Hakim's help. We took one night walk with Hakim and a park ranger, which was one of the highlights of the trip."

The place to stay at Tanjung Puting
"I lead a photography tour and this is the lodge we stayed during our Borneo part of the trip. Although simple and a little worn, this place is the heart of the park. Friendly staff, good food and convenient location. The guides are excellent and always enthusiastic and the Rimba King boat is awesome with its rooftop viewing place!"

Great hospitality and worth the price
"T
he staff and guide (Hakim) are very friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable. The cost is on the high side (USD $1.4k for 4D3N solo travel) but it is completely justifiable given the services. They take care of all your meals, tours, transport and lodging, you do not have to worry about anything

One note is that the meal portions tend to be quite big as they cater to Western travellers. If you cannot eat that much (like me!), don't be afraid to feedback to the staff. They are very receptive"
