AN ABSOLUTE GEM OF FLORES
Flores, located in Indonesia’s Nusa Tenggara Timur, is an island of dramatic contrasts and hidden gems. Towering volcanoes dominate the skyline while vibrant coral reefs hug the island’s edges. With six distinct languages spoken and deep-rooted Catholic traditions, Trans Flores Safari Tour offers a rich and unique cultural mosaic.
This 7-day safari takes you across the island’s wild heart. You’ll connect with the traditions of the Manggarai people near Labuan Bajo, the Ngada communities in Bajawa’s volcanic highlands, and the Lio villagers near the sacred crater lakes of Moni. These cultural encounters offer a rare, authentic look into the island’s ancestral heritage.
As the journey unfolds, nature will leave you breathless. Marvel at the surreal, shifting hues of the Kelimutu Crater Lakes, stand in awe before active volcanoes, and wander through lush valleys carved by time. Of course, no trip to Flores is complete without venturing into Komodo National Park, where the world’s last dragons still roam free.
Led by knowledgeable local guides, this journey is more than a tour—it’s an unforgettable adventure of discovery and connection. You’ll return not just with incredible memories, but with a deep appreciation for the people, nature, and spirit of Flores.

WHAT THEY SAY
Beautiful Grounds and Views
"Each individual or group has their own roomy cottage with a deck and great view. The grounds are beautiful and we heard and saw numerous birds. There were two different types of owls calling at night and a Munia building a nest right outside the dining area. The staff was very kind and worked really hard to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. They served us vegetarian food at our request, and it was excellent.
As the name implies, the lodge is in the mountains and some of the paths, including the ones to the cottages, are steep. If you or someone in your party has difficulty with steep steps, you may want to contact the staff in advance of visiting to make appropriate accommodations."

A lovely visit at this ecolodge
"We spent 4 nights at Mbeliling Ecolodge and generally enjoyed our time while exploring the island. After traveling all day, we arrived at dark, very tired and in a torrential down pour. Luckily, we were greeted by the lodge manager, Aldi, who assisted us to our rooms. We are in our mid 70's, pretty fit and active, but were still surprised at the very steep and deep, slippery (and somewhat dangerous) stairs we had to negotiate to get to our rooms. The rain created a 2-3 inch deep stream coming fast down the stairs, soaking our hiking shoes and pants. We did inquire about being driven up to our room on the service room that brings up luggage, but we were told no. This torrential rain, of course, was a part of nature, and after this rough start, our time here improved.
The A-frame cabin was simple, clean, and comfortable. Drinking water was provided daily, which eliminated plastic bottle use. The restaurant and deck were comfortable with beautiful views. The grounds were maintained and landscaped with lovely flowers and plants. The meals were delicious and made with fresh and local ingredients. All of the staff were very friendly, kind and helpful. And a big shout out to Aldi, the new manager and the highly experienced and courteous driver Edy. Aldi helped us in so many ways, and we greatly appreciated his assistance and enjoyed interacting with him.
It rained for most of 2 days, but we still managed to get out as much as possible. We visited Edy's village, went to a home of a weaver, and walked around the area. On another day, we hiked to the waterfalls. On our last day, we went to Komodo NP for a day tour. We are glad we were able to visit this island, explore its natural beauty, and meet the lovely folks living here."

Must Visit- Best Place and People
"I took my parents here and we spent 2.5 days and 2 nights- not enough! I could've stayed forever. We came in the off season, so it was pretty quiet around the lodge and at the craters which was amazing! Pak Patris and Pak Pang took us around Ende and Moni, and we are endlessly grateful for their warmth and patience. This was a perfect way to be able to visit Moni and actually get to see it. Aside from danau tiga warna, we went to a small hot springs in the area, on a short hike to a waterfall and through the Friday morning market, we visited traditional housing, a local coffee plantation, and blue stone beach. Despite our many activities, nothing ever felt rushed or stressful and we had plenty of time to relax at the lodge too- which is a must, the views are incredible. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. Much thanks to Pak Patris and Pak Pang for taking us around and sharing their beautiful history and culture with us. And to the rest of the staff for being so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to come back and visit again! Sampai jumpa lagi. simo gemi"

Flores deserves a look and a stay.
"This was the highlight of our trip to Indonesia. Patrise runs a fabulous operation and made us feel right at home, given we were the only guests. Working in hospitality I appreciated the thoughtfulness of the details. The excursions were insightful and informational. I would probably even have liked more hiking or yoga, but alas it was not in the cards this trip. It was beautiful."
