SUNGAI BULUH KECIL TOUR IN TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK

The Tanjung Puting National Park in Central Kalimantan, Borneo is one of the ecological gems of Indonesia. One of the few places left in the world where you can see wild orangutans, the park contains seven other primate species and myriads of butterflies and other insects. In the south of the TPNP are two large river systems Sungei Buluh Besar and Sungei Buluh Kecil to the north of the former. Before 2015, there was dense forest between these systems full of orangutans and birds plus millions of other species of fauna and flora. In 2015, illegal fires destroyed over 130,000 hectares of this 416,000 park from the southern tip to the Sungei Buluh Kecil river. The fire protection response by the government was of little value and it was only stopped by the late arrival of the monsoons.

Dr Birute Galdikas and her team from Orangutan Foundation International (OFI) have recently established three new feeding stations on Sungei Buluh Kecil and we wish to assist them in replanting trees in this vast area to help face the illegal land grab by Palm Oil companies. Two of our programs, funded by the company NGO the INDONESIA CONSERVATION FOUNDATION – OUR WORLD will concentrate on this area. OUR SPECIAL BIRD TOUR AT BULUH KECIL RIVER

We also wish to develop 2 – 3 day bird and wildlife tours in this area to support and assist the economy of local people. The tour would commence at 0500 hours from our office in Kumai or from Rimba Ecolodge, when you will proceed by speed boat to Sungei Buluh Kecil. At the entrance of the river, we will move onto a local boat for the slow trip upriver. Lunch will be at one of OFI feeding stations where you will stay the night. After lunch more bird and primate viewing on the river back for an evening drink and dinner. Another early start, further exploration of this beautiful area will continue. All guides are local and most of your tour funds will remain in the local economy.

Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting di Kalimantan Tengah adalah salah satu permata ekologi Indonesia. Salah satu dari sedikit tempat tersisa di dunia, di mana kita dapat melihat orangutan liar, termasuk tujuh spesies primata lain, dan berjuta kupu-kupu serta serangga lainnya. Di sebelah selatan TNTP ada dua aliran sungai, yakni Sungai Buluh Besar dan Sungei Buluh Kecil mungalir menuju wilayah utara taman nasional. Sebelum tahun 2015, ada hutan lebat di antara sungau ini yang dipenuhi oleh orangutan dan burung, serta jutaan spesies fauna dan flora lainnya. Pada tahun 2015, kebakaran liar telah menghancurkan lebih dari 130.000 hektar hutan dari 416.000 lahan di Taman Nasional ini, dari ujung selatan hingga sungai Sungei Buluh Kecil. Tindakan pemadaman dari pemerintah dan berbagai pihak tidak berarti dan api hanya bisa dihentikan oleh musim hujan yang dating terlambat saat itu.

Dr Birute Galdikas dan timnya dari Orangutan Foundation International (OFI) baru-baru ini mendirikan tiga tempat konservasi Orangutan di Sungei Buluh Kecil, dan kami ingin membantu mereka dalam penanaman kembali pohon di wilayah yang luas ini, untuk membantu membatasi perkembangan lahan kelapa sawit. Dua dari program Yayasan kami (YAYASAN KONSERVASI INDONESIA – BUMI KITA), akan berkonsentrasi di daerah ini. TOUR BURUNG KAMI DI SUNGAI BULUH KECIL

Kami juga ingin mengembangkan wisata burung dan satwa liar selama 2 – 3 hari di daerah ini, untuk mendukung dan membantu perekonomian masyarakat setempat. Tur akan dimulai pada pukul 05.00 dari kantor kami di Kumai atau dari Rimba Lodge dengan speed boat ke Sungei Buluh Kecil. Di pintu masuk sungai, kita akan naik perahu lokal untuk perjalanan lambat ke hulu. Makan siang akan dilakukan di salah satu feeding station OFI, dimana kita bisa bermalam. Setelah makan siang, melihat lebih banyak burung dan primata di sungai, kembali untuk makan malam. Jika punya cukup waktu, kita bisa eksplorasi area ini lebih lama. Semua pemandu kami adalah orang lokal, dan sebagian besar pemasukan dari tour ini digunakan untuk membantu masyarakat lokal.
