UPDATE FOUNDATION PROJECT AT THE LODGES

Our four lodges are just hanging on financially, with the help of our dedicated and hardworking staff.
We have some photos of some of the work they are doing.
At Rimba, Manager Pak Nopri, assisted by the other four staff are raising NILE PERCH.
There was a problem when the fish grew too big for the oxygen supply in the water , so a few died, but all are growing well now oxygen has been added This is to augment staff meals, perhaps for sale later. They are also growing chillies in pots successfully.

At Kelimutu our Manager Ibu Yohanna, assisted by Patris and Elise from the office were out shelling beans in the field. The women have also sold other produce, like cabbages, at the local markets. Often at break of day. The money raised goes to augment salaries. The staff now do ‘gotong royong’ or group work, in the fields every Friday.

At Mbeliling, the group there is farming CATFISH ,or Ikan Lele, now reaching about 40 cms, and selling at about 3$ a big fish, helping to keep the lodge swimming along! An old water tank has been recycled as a pond.

At Satwa in Sumatra, ibu Nanik from the office, Ibu Endang from Restaurant, Ibu Rumiatun from housekeeping, and Pak Dimin, security, are all having success with their GOATS, which will give them an income in a month or so, and a small percentage to the Lodge itself and the loan back into the Conservation fund. They are also raising pineapples and sweet potatoes.
We are very proud of their efforts, and wish them success.

UPDATE PROYEK YAYASAN DI LODGE

Empat penginapan kami hanya bertahan secara finansial, dengan bantuan staf kami yang berdedikasi dan pekerja keras.

Kami memiliki beberapa foto dari beberapa pekerjaan yang mereka lakukan.

Di Rimba, Manajer Pak Nopri dibantu empat staf lainnya membesarkan IKAN NILA.

Ada masalah ketika ikan tumbuh terlalu besar untuk persediaan oksigen di dalam air, jadi beberapa ada yang mati, tetapi semuanya tumbuh dengan baik sekarang oksigen telah ditambahkan. Ini untuk menambah makanan staf, mungkin untuk dijual nanti. Mereka juga berhasil menanam cabai dalam pot.

Di Kelimutu Manager kami Ibu Yohanna dibantu oleh Patris dan Elise dari kantor sedang menambang biji di lapangan. Para wanita juga menjual hasil bumi lain, seperti kubis, di pasar lokal. Seringkali saat istirahat. Uang yang terkumpul digunakan untuk menambah gaji. Para staf sekarang melakukan ‘gotong royong’ atau kerja kelompok, di sawah setiap hari Jumat.

Di Mbeliling, kelompok di sana bertani CATFISH, atau Ikan Lele, sekarang mencapai sekitar 40 cm, dan menjual sekitar $ 3 seekor ikan besar, membantu menjaga pondok tetap berenang! Tangki air tua telah didaur ulang sebagai kolam.

Di Satwa di Sumatra, ibu Nanik dari kantor, Ibu Endang dari Restoran, Ibu Rumiatun dari housekeeping, dan Pak Dimin, satpam, semuanya sukses dengan KAMBING mereka, yang akan memberi mereka penghasilan dalam sebulan atau lebih, dan sedikit persentase ke Lodge itu sendiri dan pinjaman kembali ke dana Konservasi. Mereka juga menanam nanas dan ubi jalar.

Kami sangat bangga dengan upaya mereka, dan berharap mereka sukses.
